A Mystery Novel by Darrow Woods
Here’s how one reviewer described my new mystery novel, which follows the Rev. Thomas Book as he tries to make sense of life, death, and most everything else:
Mayhem breaks out at St. Mungo’s Church. It’s Holy Week and a body falls out of the basement wall during church renovations. Unlike the body of Jesus, this one has been there considerably longer than three days. The stink, “like a butcher’s dumpster on a hot day,” seeps into the church unmasking the pretense of bucolic congregational life. Long-buried lies and secrets are also unearthed.
The young widower, Rev. Tom Book, risks his life attempting to untangle the lies and secrets with the help of a hidden diary, the local law, and the lovely Annika and Zeke, her cadaver-sniffing dog.
The Book of Answers is Father Brown meets Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, in Oakville. Mystery lovers will delight in the building suspense and the steady disclosure of clues.
A Five Star read by Darrow Woods, Crime Writers of Canada Award of Excellence Finalist.
